Joel Masinde

Executive Director

Joel has a heart for Christians who are broken by the world and giving up on God because of His seemingly delayed and unfulfilled promises. His desire is to mobilize and empower Christians to be one body that supports each another in their brokenness.

Joel grew up in an impoverished village in Eastern Uganda. He was blessed to be sponsored by Compassion International from early childhood through university, making a way for him to be one of the first people from his village to graduate from university and to become a doctor. Through his sponsors, he experienced the love of God's people and saw how one individual could be a channel of blessing and transformation to those less privileged. This changed his life and motivated him to share this experience with others. As part of Compassion's Leadership Development Program, Joel was taught and given opportunities to practice Christ's model of servant leadership, especially as his university's campus representative, caring for the physical and spiritual welfare of Compassion students, organizing missions, and providing financial accountability.

During medical school, Joel also served as chairperson for his campus fellowship. He then served for three years as missions and pastoral team coordinator and associate pastor for his local church. These experiences gave him opportunities to preach, train and disciple leaders, coordinate local and international missions, and organize medical camps and youth conferences. Joel obtained his bachelor's in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from Kampala International University in 2017 and practiced medicine as a doctor in Uganda until he came to the US in 2019.

Currently, Joel is working on a master's in Ministry Leadership at Moody Theological Seminary. He is also active in the assimilation, men's, and prayer ministries with Friendship Church in Canton, MI. He uses his gifts of shepherding and leadership to support the work of For Love Ministries as Executive Director.
